As a kid, we vacationed on Marco Island, Florida. We began going there in 1979. At first, we stayed at the Marriott and eventually my parents bought a condo there because they loved it so much.
We would spend the month of August out there. Being in Florida in the month of August sounds horrible, but for a kid, the heat never really affected us. We spent all of our time at the pool or at the beach.
I had an aunt who loved fishing, and she would go down with us. She was my fishing buddy. We would go daily and catch all kinds of fish.
The craziest fish I caught was a small manta ray. I remember when I brought it into the house my mom freaked out.

My most vivid memory was the way the sand felt in Marco Island. It was soft and cool. It did not retain the hot Florida heat.
You were able to walk on the sand without getting third degree burns on the bottoms of your feet. Those were reserved for when we’d go to the beaches in Miami.
My parents ended up selling the condo in the 90’s because we weren’t using it. I hadn’t returned in over 30 years.
Planning for spring break, I proposed that we go to Marco. I wanted Finn to experience all of the cool stuff I did at his age in Marco. Before we went, I let him know about all of the things that I loved doing there.
We stayed at the same Marriott hotel that I stayed in over 40 years ago. Throughout the trip, Finn kept telling me how much fun he was having and how he wanted to return next year.
I believe that I successfully transferred my positive memories and emotions to Finn. 😄
Generally, we tend to do this emotional memory transfer with both positive things and negative things in our lives.
For example, my parents are afraid of flying and I have an apprehension of flying. Finn now has a fear/apprehension of flying. I believe he got that from me.
We transfer emotions all the time. Some people will have a fear of the dentist because their parents feared the dentist. Many Americans will avoid the dentist because of that fear.

We recognize this at Dente and that is why we offer Anxiety Free Dentistry.
Patients are given anxiety reducing medication that helps them relax for their dental appointment. This medication helps the patient get numb quicker and stay numb longer.
What this means to the patient: A MORE COMFORTABLE APPOINTMENT!
If you are afraid of going to the dentist and would like to get a non-judgmental Anxiety Free Dental consultation, please visit us at mydente.com and call 773-292-1911 to schedule your appointment.
