The Old Who

The last time that I saw The Who in concert was in 1989. The band members were just 45 years old at the time. The band was full of energy and flawless.

Pete Townshend played his guitar fast and at the right tempo of the song. Roger Daltrey was running around on stage and hitting all his notes perfectly.

Not a single person was sitting in their seats. Everyone was standing and singing to every song. The band had a great stage presence, and it was one of the most entertaining concerts I had been to.

I came across an advertisement that The Who were having a farewell tour and was coming to Chicago this year. I was excited and bought my tickets.

This time the experience was completely different.

The band members were now in their 80’s. The average age of the crowd was 65 to 70 years old. There were concert goers that were using walkers. I saw quite a few of those.

The band members were cranky and making tons of mistakes. At one point, Pete Townshend’s guitar wasn’t working properly. He took the guitar and threw it off the stage.

The singer, Roger Daltrey had to be consoled because he would have temper tantrums in the middle of the stage. Many of the songs had to be restarted because they had made a mistake at the beginning.

They were just old and did not have the same energy and skill.

As I scanned the crowd I began to reevaluate my whole life. “Wow, am I this old?”Then you begin to examine your body and physical capabilities. Then your older features become more apparent.

I wonder if this is the process that happens when people decide to make cosmetic changes.

I know for many people that come to us for dental cosmetic changes, many times they have a tooth imperfection that’s bothered them for years.

They describe how in their photos, they notice their teeth imperfections and don’t like the way their smile looks.

Thankfully, with over 20 years of experience, I do quite a few smile makeovers, with fantastic results. Check out our before and after photos on our website at mydente.com.
