Planning a Vacation

I graduated from the University of Iowa Dental School 25 years ago.

I still keep in touch with a lot of my classmates.

We are scattered all over the United States.

This winter, my family and I are meeting up with one of my classmates and his family in Utah for some skiing.

It’s great when you go with people who live there because you get to see the less touristy areas. And I always enjoy that the most.

I am not a big skier, but Finn loves to snowboard. He actually has been the one hounding me about going to Utah.

Finn knows Mike and his kids, and they always invite us skiing but I never take them up on it.

This time Finn made sure I followed through and did not stop until the entire ski trip was completely scheduled.

Now that he knows we are going, Finn can’t stop talking about it. He is getting all his gear ready. He is polishing up all his equipment and making sure it all fits properly.

Half of the fun for a vacation is the anticipation. It’s the imagining of what its going to be like.

We do this all the time. We begin to imagine an event before it actually takes place.

In dentistry, it happens a lot also, when someone is anxious about their appointment.

They spend the entire night thinking about the upcoming appointment. They imagine how it’s going to feel and the sounds that they are going to hear.

Many people find it very difficult to move forward and come to the dentist because of those fears.

That is why we offer Anxiety Free Dentistry.

These patients are given anxiety reducing medications that help them relax during their appointments.

While they are relaxed, the patient is totally numb and unable to feel any discomfort. They are also able to get more work done during one appointment.

Most of these patients will describe it as their best dental appointment ever.

If you are nervous about going to the dentist and would like an Anxiety Free Dental consultation, please visit us at mydente.com or call 773-292-1911 to schedule your appointment today!
