Since Finn was little, he’s always played really rough. He would get really aggressive in soccer and colliding with the other kids to get to the ball.
At times, I’d feel a little embarrassed because the kids would start crying, and I felt like the parents would think that we were raising this hyper aggressive kid.
He actually has always been like that even when he was a little baby.
Once he found out that our neighborhood offered tackle football, he wanted to join. The kids were little, so I had no fear that any type of serious injury would occur.
Finn has tried a lot of different sports like baseball and soccer, and he has even dabbled in hockey. He lost interest in all those sports, and I felt the same would happen with football.
Finn is now in his fourth year of football, and his love for football has only strengthened.
He is now 12 years old, and the football collisions are becoming more violent. Many times, I’ll be sitting in the stands, and you could hear the pads and helmets hitting each other.
I told Finn that if he gets injured in football too many times, I may have him quit the sport. He began to cry uncontrollably and was unable to sleep. He told me that he loves the sport.

I then told him if he played, he had to wear the Guardian cap.
The Guardian cap is a black cover that has an extra cushion and protective layer that goes on top of the football helmet and studies have shown that it reduces concussionsby 30 percent.
He responded that he would wear it but only in practice but not in games. He said none of the other boys were wearing them during the games, and he didn’t want to be the only one.
I told him that if he didn’t wear it during the games then he would not be able to play football.
He agreed and was the only kid on his team wearing the Guardian cap during the game.
Something cool happened the following week. Finn and four other boys were wearing the Guardian cap. And every week since, several kids are wearing Guardian cap.

A lot of times we need someone to try something out first before we move forward with something. I see this in dentistry all the time.
We will see a new patient that tries our office first before they refer their friends and family to our office. It’s human nature to be hesitant to try something new, especially when it comes to our health care.
That is why most of our patients come from being referred by our existing patients.
People love sharing when they have a good experience somewhere and believe it or not, your friends and family are looking for the dentist that you recommend.
Many of them are in corporate dentistry that is cold and transactional based. The relationship-based dental office is a dying model, and many of your friends and family are interested in this type of office.
If you have just come from a positive experience at Dente, please let your friends and family know because many of them are looking for the same thing. Give them our number at 773-292-1911 or have them visit us at mydente.com to schedule their appointment.
