CPAP Struggles

I fall asleep pretty easily. I could be in a movie theatre, sitting on a couch, or just about anywhere.

I told my doctor, and he referred me to a sleep doctor.

The doctor heard my symptoms and immediately sent me for a sleep study. It was established that I had sleep apnea. The doctor ordered me a CPAP machine.

The CPAP machine is a sleep device that forces air through your nose to help open your airway and allow more oxygen while you’re sleeping.

I was excited to sleep well and was very motivated to get started with my CPAP machine.

The first night of receiving the machine I immediately assembled it and read all of the instructions.

I set up the machine next to my bed. I placed the awkward mask on my face and turned it on.

The cold air blasted air up my nose and I felt like I was choking. But I was determined that I would fight through the discomfort and finely get to sleep.

I could not get to sleep and after 2 hours with the CPAP on, I finally took it off. Each night I kept trying but each night I would give up.

I let my doctor know of my struggles and he assigned me a CPAP coach.

Cali, my sleep coach, contacted me immediately. She gave me tips and made changes to my CPAP machine.

Within a few tries and constant communication, I was able to sleep with the CPAP. My tiredness has improved dramatically.

My sleep team’s attentiveness and follow-ups kept me on track. They made sure I didn’t lose interest and was successful with the CPAP system.

The feeling of being taken care of is important when you’re dealing with your health.

Unfortunately, this is becoming a dying trend. Today many dental offices have become corporate owned. This has created a cold environment for patients and a feeling that they are just a number.
