Bumper Cars

This last fall, I went to the Bruce Springsteen concert at Wrigley Field.

Sarah and I decided to drive in a few hours earlier and grab dinner before the concert. One of our favorite restaurants is El Tapatio Café on Ashland and Roscoe.

We ate our meal and I decided to leave my car on Ashland Avenue. I like to park there because it’s a nice wide street and I felt that it was less likely to get sideswiped than on the more narrow side streets.

The concert was a blast and it lasted a whole 3 hours!

We walked back to the car, looked at my side view mirror and noticed it was totally bent.

Not just the mirror, the side of my car was dented and had a scratch all along the drivers side door.

My car had gotten side swiped while I was at the concert!

The very thing I was trying to avoid, had happened to me. I got really angry that someone had hit my car and now I was responsible to fix it. I yelled out a loud in frustration.

This whole temper tantrum lasted for about 30 seconds. I thought to myself, "Getting angry is not going to make this process any easier." Also I have dealt with worse problems than this and its all turned out fine.

I was able to calm myself down because I had experience similar problems and they always worked out.

Knowing how to address certain problems with a calm demeanor, is best done when we have had the experience before or a similar experience.

This happens in all fields, including dentistry.
